Already own a domain?
Bring it with you. Add www.yourname.co.za from your dashboard, set one record at your registrar, and we take care of the rest — certificates included.
Either way, yourname.pylonsites.co.za stays yours — a custom domain adds to it, never replaces it.
Questions people ask
- How do I register a domain?
- Search for the name you want above. If it's free, sign in (it's free to sign up), pay for the year and the domain is yours — usually working within a few minutes. Then connect it to your site from the Domains tab.
- What does a domain cost?
- Domains are priced per year in rand, and renewing costs the same as registering. You'll see the exact price when you sign in to buy.
- Does my domain renew automatically?
- Yes. Domains are registered for a year and renew automatically, so your address never lapses by accident. We remind you 30, 14, 7 and 1 days before the renewal date.
- Do I get a free web address?
- Yes. Every published Pylon site gets its own free address at yourname.pylonsites.co.za. A domain of your own adds to it — it never replaces it.
- Can I use a domain I already own?
- Yes. Keep it where it is, add it in your Pylon dashboard and set one record at your current provider. We verify it and set up the security certificate automatically. It can take up to 24 hours to come through.
- Can I move my domain to Pylon?
- Not yet. Moving a domain between providers isn't something we offer, but you don't need to — connect the domain you already own and your Pylon site runs on it.
- Does a domain come with email?
- Not yet. If you connect a domain you already own, an email service such as Google Workspace can keep running your mail on it. Domains registered through Pylon don't support email yet.
- Which ending should I choose?
- For a business in South Africa, .co.za is the address people trust first. Choose .com if you sell abroad, .org.za or .org for an organisation, and .joburg, .capetown or .durban to put your city in your name.
