The band that fills the dance floor.

A five-piece wedding and function band from Johannesburg β€” soul, Afro-pop and the songs everybody knows, from the ceremony to the last dance.

The band

Five musicians who read a room

Vocals, keys, guitar, bass, drums β€” and a saxophone when it counts

Vocals, keys, guitar, bass, drums β€” and a saxophone when it counts

We have played more than three hundred weddings, year-end functions and festivals since 2015. Every set is live, every song is learnt properly, and we watch the floor rather than the setlist: when the aunties get up, we keep them up.

How the night goes

From the first chord to the last song

  • An acoustic duo

    15:30

    The ceremony

    An acoustic duo

Guitar and voice for the walk down the aisle, the signing and the walk back out.

  • The jazz trio

    16:30

    Drinks on the lawn

    The jazz trio

Saxophone, keys and bass while the photographs are taken and the canapΓ©s go round.

  • Soft soul, low volume

    19:00

    Dinner

    Soft soul, low volume

Background you can talk over β€” we turn down for the speeches and come back in on cue.

  • Your song, played live

    21:00

    The first dance

    Your song, played live

Learnt from your favourite recording, arranged for the five of us, and rehearsed before the day.

  • Three sets until late

    21:15

    The dance floor

    Three sets until late

Afro-pop, soul and the classics. You send a must-play list and a do-not-play list; we honour both.

They learnt our first dance from a voice note and played it better than the record. Nobody sat down after that.

On time, set up quietly, played the do-not-play list exactly as asked. We have booked them for our anniversary.
